Follow Malcolm London as he navigates the intersection of Poetry, Music & Justice in Chicago.
MALCOLM LONDON, called the Gil-Scott Heron of this generation by Cornel West, is an internationally recognized Chicago poet, activist, educator and musician. London brings vim and vigor to his energetic performances tackling tough contemporary issues head-on.
Deeply passionate about innovating new ways to improve the national education system, London regularly works with the youth running workshops and performances such as OpenMike in Chicago alongside his friend Chance The Rapper. As an organizer from Chicago's West Side, he has built a revolutionary new voice amongst a wave of artists using music to empower and change the community.
Strange Loop has fully backed the short documentary with Executive Producer Nick Santore and Director David Huzieran at the helm. We're introduced to Malcolm London as he melds experiences of courageous social work with a strong skill set in poetry; giving life to his ground breaking debut musical album OPIA. The film will tell an authentic story with compassion towards the human spirit, self-discovery and poetic justice. A reverberating, deeply personal, and mediative journey through Chicago's beautifully diverse landscape.
The project is currently set for an early 2018 release.
